With summer well and truly upon us, it’s a great time to remind you to never leave children or dogs in a car, particularly when it’s parked in the sun (see below). It may also be a great time to remind you that you need a new carport for your Sydney home, and we’ve got a way to make it the coolest carport in the street.

As we’ve highlighted before in our blogs, research has shown the staggering temperatures that a car parked in the sun can reach on a hot day. If it’s 30 degrees Celsius, pretty standard for a summer day in Sydney, expect the inside of your car to be around 50 to 60 degrees! Yes, that’s right, a car parked in the sun can be 20 to 30 degrees hotter than the temperature outside the car.

Which is why, if you have leather seats, bare skin will feel like it has hit a frying pan when you sit down. Which is why your car can feel like a sauna after you come back to it after shopping for groceries or attending a doctor’s appointment. Which is why you must never keep children or animals in the car on a hot day unattended, even for a short period of time.

The cool Sydney carport

We can’t help keep your car cool while you are getting groceries or at a doctor’s appointment, but we can when it’s parked at home. The solution is simple. Design and build a new carport for your Sydney home.

A well-designed Sydney carport will help to keep you cool on hot days, particularly when the sun is out. Of course, you’ll also appreciate the carport in inclement weather, when the rain is pelting down or on frosty mornings in winter.

The other thing that would appreciate a carport is, of course, your vehicles. The sun, UV rays, rain and other elements can cause damage to your car over time. In the case of hail, it can cause damage in a very short time. A carport will protect your precious assets and help you keep them in tip-top condition.

But what if you want the coolest Sydney carport around? A potential option would be to use

insulated roof panels. These panels generally feature a polystyrene core sandwiched between a steel roofing sheet and an attractive underside. It’s a roof, insulation and ceiling in one and can make a big difference to the temperature inside your carport. You can even use them on the walls if you wanted to enclose one, two or three sides of your Sydney carport.

The insulated roof panels are perhaps more commonly used on outdoor living areas, but they do a great job on a carport. If you’d like to know more about insulated roof panels, give Mr Carports a call on 1800 557 782.

Note: Apart from the obvious safety risk of leaving a child in the car on a hot day, it may cost you a pretty penny. It is an offence to leave a child or young person in a motor vehicle unattended in NSW. If the child or young person becomes emotionally distressed, or is likely to become emotionally distressed, or the child or young person’s health is put in danger, you could face a fine of up $22,000.
