There’s a popular saying that every cloud has a silver lining, and while the COVID-19 cloud looks blacker than most and the silver lining more like a cheap metal, one of the more positive aspects for many of us is that we’re now spending more time at home. Which, if you’ve been thinking of building a new carport for your Melbourne home, could mean you’ve got the time to get the project moving.
CAN BUILDING BUSINESSES GET YOUR MELBOURNE CARPORT OFF THE GROUND?
As it currently stands, most outdoor construction companies are still operating and open for business.
For Mr Carports, the health and safety and well-being of clients, our employees and the general community has always been a priority and will continue to be during the COVID-19 issue. If you have a Melbourne carport project in progress with us, we do not foresee any interruption to either supply or service for your project. The same goes for new carport projects.
Of course, we will be modifying some of our normal practices in light of the current laws and recommendations. This includes limiting contact with clients, maintaining the minimum 1.5 metres distance when we need to see a client in person, and beefing up our hygiene practices on job sites to prevent the potential spread of the virus.
MELBOURNE CARPORT – WHAT’S THE PROCESS?
We don’t build cookie-cutter carports here at Mr Carports. Every carport is custom built to your requirements and your home. So, every new Melbourne carport starts with a visit to the client’s home, to see the space where you intend to build your new carport, see your existing home and discuss your wants and needs. We can still do this during the COVID-19 issue, but of course we will need to maintain social-distancing regulations.
We understand, however, that some people may not be comfortable with this, particularly if you have vulnerable people in your household. However, another saying is where there’s a will there’s a way, so we’ll find a way to work around your needs. For example, we could have an initial discussion on the phone, organise a day and time to visit, and then chat on the phone while we stay outside and you stay inside.
Either way, once we’ve got all the details from you, we’ll provide a design for your new Melbourne carport and the all important quote, which of course is totally obligation free.
If you accept our quote (our quotes are extremely competitive), we’ll then prepare the formal plans and council applications. Generally, councils can take between 5 to 12 weeks to process applications, so if you want your new carport soon you’ll need to get moving as quickly as possible.
